Fionnuala O’Leary reports.
For most of us the ability to sort out what we REALLY want and what we are
made to THINK we want can be a real headache.
And so it is not surprising that Life Coaching has become a massive
phenomenon in the States where people from all walks of life take the time
to focus on what they really want.
Irish life coach Carmel Wynne says ‘You can coach anybody to do
anything. You can coach somebody on their parenting skills, you can coach
a teenager to study or you could coach a journalist to de-stress.

The book which opens with a quote from the recently deceased comedian Bob
Monkhouse on the concept of success serves as an introduction to the idea
of life coaching.
Full time life coach Carmel, who already has two books to her name, is
confident that a simple change in the way people think can do much to
banish the scourge of negative thinking
The book itself is simply laid out and targets self-esteem and basic
problem solving. In short it is an introduction to coaching and not an
answer to every question on the subject.
‘Written in the spirit of Bob Monkhouse’s words, ‘If you paint signs
when you could paint sunsets, invent jingles when you might compose
symphonies, foregoing eventual achievements in favour of instant reward,
that might be regarded as a personal failure.

At the beginning of my life-coaching session I felt as though I was trying
to run through mud. By the end I felt as though I was flying round the
room, ready to leave and take on the world.
There have been moments since them that I have stopped to consider
things we discussed and on the whole, I feel I have benefited hugely.
You have the talent and aptitude to achieve more in life. You have all

college degree for success. Belief in yourself is the key to achieving
